ABOUT US

Scanning the globe (STG) is a historical preservation project that utilizes 3D scanning techniques to immortalize artifacts, environments, and stories digitally.

In the first chapter of this project, we have partnered with Britannia Mine Museum to create
The Digital Mine.

The Digital Mine is an immersive look into industrial mining in British Columbia.

Through three goals, we will explore how the discovery of copper and other precious minerals changed and grew a community.

EXHIBITION

Located at the Image Arts Center

Scanning the Globe is hosting a live event at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Where students, educators, and the public can experience the scans through virtual reality and 3D-printed recreations, offering an accessible and engaging encounter with Canada’s history.

DOCUMENTARY

To be premiered in the Summer of 2026

Scanning the Globe will deliver a documentary focusing on both the history and preservation of these artifacts.

Highlighting how the use of 3D scanning techniques helps to showcase artifacts that are at their “end of life” cycle. The main focus of the doc is on the Britannia Mine Museum, showcasing the history of artifacts and their sub-cultural significance

ASSET LIBRARY

Open to the public in the summer of 2026

Scanning the globe will produce a 3D asset library open to the public through the web.

Our goal is to ensure that these artifacts are not only digitized, but used in the way that our audience seems fit. Which is why Scanning The Globe will be releasing all assets gathered during the Digital Mine project to the public.
